    Lockheed Martin Apr 2013 - Apr 2023
    Bethesda, Md, Us
Principal Investigator of Virtual/Augmented Reality IRAD. Invented several anti-tamper solutions. Modeled Infrared Search and Track (IRST) clutter for a variety of alternative IRST concepts. Supported F-18 IRST field testing and trained several junior engineers to model IRST target signatures. Performed EO/LO analysis for missile programs and developed desperately needed speed and accuracy improvements in IR target signature, atmospheric, and background modeling. I also improved the state of the art in GPS-denied navigation, focusing primarily on landfall detection.
  • Northrop Grumman Laser Systems
    Fellow Systems Engineer
Northrop Grumman Laser Systems 2010 - Apr 2013
Diagnosed and resolved a fixed pattern noise issue for the Low Light Designator Ranger (LLDR2) system, which minimized the manufacturing down time caused by a serious design problem. Diagnosed and resolved Coded Spot Tracker sun glint problem. Designed/implemented a wide area real-time LIDAR model/simulation and integrated the laser scanner with the imaging sensor for the lab demonstration system. Served as Test Readiness and Critical Design review lead for various programs. Developed and analyzed EO detection and parallax registration algorithms.
  • Lockheed Martin Missiles And Fire Control, Orlando, Fl
    Staff Sysems Engineer
Lockheed Martin Missiles And Fire Control, Orlando, Fl Jan 2003 - Sep 2010
From 01/2003 ~ 04/2005, I developed components of the system model and simulation for the Joint Strike Fighter’s electro-optical targeting system (EOTS). This simulation facilitatedhardware in the loop integration & testing of various aircraft systems several years priorto actual EOTS hardware availability. Additionally, I developed the signal processingalgorithms for a prototype concealed weapon detection (CWD) system. From 05/2005 to2010, I worked various signature and environment modeling tasks. I developed anumber of applications to drive SPIRITS (SPectral and In-band Radiometric Imaging ofTargets and Scenes), a very complicated signature and environment modeling softwareutility, and to accumulate it’s output into data files needed by various simulations andmodeling efforts. Using these tools as well as other analytical tools, I have enabled LMMFCto perform analytical tasks that were previously beyond our abilities.
  • Goldtouch Computer Solutions
    President
Goldtouch Computer Solutions Mar 1995 - Sep 2010
I developed custom software, hardware, and network solutions for clients / customers. I optimized Unidial's (now Lightyear Communications ) call rating engine enabling it to process $2.5M in long distance calls in under 4 hours where their previous design took 10 days. I made a similar enhancement to their statement generation and billing processes, again taking the process from weeks to hours. I also developed their wholesaler system and optimized their COBOL tax computation software into C++.
  • Cnet, Inc. / Techrepublic
    Technical Writer
    Cnet, Inc. / Techrepublic Jan 2000 - Apr 2003
I wrote a biweekly column on subjects such as optimization, networking concepts, systemadministration, the inner workings of hard disk drives, UNIX kernel architecture, andLinux advocacy. Some sample articles are listed below:http://www.techrepublic.com/article/understanding-the-kernel-process/5033539http://www.techrepublic.com/article/dissecting-the-disk-drive/1055171http://www.techrepublic.com/article/the-unix-shell-game/5026513
  • Hi-Tec Associates, Inc.
    Engineering Contractor / Consultant
    Hi-Tec Associates, Inc. Jun 1997 - Mar 2002
I helped write a simulator/emulator for Lockheed Martin’s new SIMD processor, and Idesigned a simulation of the F22 Missile Launch Detection (MLD) system using theSIMD architecture. The MLD algorithms achieved new speed records using LockheedMartin’s current generation SIMD machine. From late 1997 – 2000, I designed the imagetracker and performed various image processing analysis tasks for Lockheed Martin’sJoint Strike Fighter proposal. This tracker was re-used in Lockheed Martin’s SniperAdvanced Targeting Pod, which won an $850M contract. From 2000 – 2002, I designedthe multi-target tracker for the Modernized Targeting And Detection System (M-TADS)for the Apache Helicopter and designed/coded a complete simulation of the trackersensors, hardware, and software. This was to be used for validating tracker performanceprior to system hardware availability. Concurrently, I debugged and wrote enhancementsfor the video communications controller that was deployed on the space station. Thissystem consisted of a PowerPC running AIX, which communicated with custom boardsover VME. The system controls up to 6 digital video recorders, a satellite down-link, andMPEG compressor / decoder devices.
  • Lockheed Martin Information Systems
    Staff Systems Engineer
Lockheed Martin Information Systems Mar 1996 - Jun 1997
Staff Systems EngineerI was responsible for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) program’spattern level classifier improvement effort. This system reduces the search space for FBIten print searches, which are used to identify suspects and search for prior arrests. Idesigned and implemented the original fingerprint characterization and feature extraction algorithms that enabled the company to win the FBI AFIS program 3 years prior.

    Teranex 1997 - 1997
Arranged brainstorming meeting with numerous consultants and industry professionals to determine the company's strategic direction. Once we determined that the company should pursue NTSC to HDTV scan conversion, I developed the proof-of-concept prototype algorithm. Assisted the CEO in hiring employees.
  • Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace
    Senior Software Engineer
Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace Oct 1986 - Mar 1995
Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace, Orlando, FL: Senior EngineerI developed algorithms for target detection, tracking, and classification. I won two spotawards for my work as Software Lead Engineer on Minefield Detection program and asAlgorithm Lead Engineer on Fingerprint Characterization project. During my 8 yearswith the Image Processing Lab, I designed algorithms for multi-processor real-timeembedded systems as well as algorithms for Martin’s proprietary Geometric ArithmeticParallel Processor (GAPP). I also helped develop the GAPP controller and wrote asignification portion of the GAPP compiler and its run time libraries.
