Reporting to System CHRO, directed staff of 23 employees with three supervisory direct reports. Responsible for providing HR services to 1200 Corporate employees including employee relations, policy regulatory compliance, system HR performance metrics, employee wellness, record keeping, international recruitment, master contracts and HR budget.Formed and led 12-member taskforce on "mission-impossible" effort to unify HR policies and practices across seven major healthcare organizations. Within 12 months, developed 70 new system policies that replaced over 600 separate policies and practices. Received the national Internal Communications Award from ASHHRA, the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Association.Spearheaded successful system-wide initiative to implement a comprehensive master temporary agency contract. Program saved approximately $4.5M dollars through standardization, pricing controls and efficiencies gained through use of electronic scheduling and billing software.Established an international nurse recruitment program netting 175 nurses for critical-to-fill positions with 90% electing regular employment at end of their 2 year contract.Developed prototype HR metrics business scorecard that provided key business information to senior operational leadership in making critical business unit decisions. Scorecard was major contributor to health system receiving Michigan Quality Award and preparing for the Malcolm Baldridge application. Successfully managed a $16M corporate HR budget achieving 90% expense cost control threshold for the past seven years.

Responsible for providing HR services for a 100-bed general psychiatric hospital including employee / labor relations, benefits and compensation, policy compliance, board of trustee interaction and budget. Provided operational leadership oversight to the non-clinical departments, including food services, payroll, maintenance and security.Partnered with operational leadership to significantly upgrade employee engagement and improve the culture. Initiative resulted in employees requesting decertification of their labor union contract. Led the HR transition activities for a hospital acquisition and merger by Henry Ford Health System that resulted in a win-win for both organizations with respect to all facets of HR programs.

Retired; 25 year active duty / reserve career serving during Vietnam Conflict and Operation Desert Shield / Storm. Completed Airborne and Ranger Special Forces training and held infantry leadership assignments ranging from platoon through battalion levels of command.

Free-standing $300M, 200-bed tertiary hospital of Beaumont Corporation with 900 employees.; Responsible for directing a staff of three HR professionals providing consultative services including employee relations, recruitment, policy development and regulatory readiness compliance.Successfully completed two Joint Commission accreditation audits with no HR deficiencies, contributing to the hospital being awarded accreditation.Improved hiring cycle time by five to seven days through implementation of more effective recruiting practices and policies.
