Came from Reserves to Riverines and now I’m experiencing the more relaxed side of the Navy for a few years.In the Riverines I did two deployments to Bahrain. Responsibilities included knowledge of weapons, medical, communication gear, navigation, and knowledge of all aspects of ship’s engines. Highlighted qualifications include Engineering qualified, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Security Watchstander, and Safety. Annually ordered, received, stowed, maintained, and distributed over $900,000 worth of tool, parts, and materials. Annually ordered and received over $250,000 worth of services on 6 different watercraft. Trained and supervised 26 individuals on correctly ordering from the Navy stock system.

The Navy Reserves is mainly about ensuring sailors are up to standards on training and ready to be deployed if necessary. This includes continual training whether physically, presentations, or computer based. Must study for advancement. All paperwork and medical/dental records must be current. All Training must be kept current. Uphold the same standards as active duty military while holding a civilian job and or attending further education.Additional responsibilities include Funeral Guard, Color Guard, and Annual Training Assistant. Must maintain clean and current uniform standards and be available within 24 hours of notice.

Maintenance and Repairs of 95 Gamesa G114 wind turbines. Upkeep ranged anywhere from a simple local reset, to the hydraulics not pitching or engaging, to troubleshooting a short in an electric circuit. Duration of Employment included offsite training, commissioning of all 95 turbines, and 9 months of maintenance/fixing startup issues. Qualified in CPR/First Aid, Electrical, hydraulics, 34,000 volt transformer, Hytorc tools, and crane rigging.

Repair and maintenance of hydraulic powered torque wrenches. Calibration of handheld torque wrenches.I worked out of a mobile van repairing the hytorc tools covering Kansas and Nebraska. Work included cold calls to potential clients. Was in charge of $1,000,000 worth of equipment including vehicle. Position earned a foothold into wind turbines after school.

The Home Depot puts customer satisfaction first and foremost. The SAFETY of our customers and staff follows as a close second. Associates are knowledgeable in the use of every tool and the parameters of how tool should be used safely. With the knowledge gained associates are able to troubleshoot any difficulties a customer may have with a tool. This includes items we may not carry in tool rental such as lawnmowers. Other responsibilities include thorough knowledge of computers, cash handling, and conditions of a legally binding contract. Continuous training, knowledge of what the store sells, and where the items may be found are also important parts of the job. I have been transferred between garden, hardware, front end, and I am Backup Cashier certified. Work schedule can vary anywhere from 6am until 10pm Monday through Saturday, and 8am until 8pm Sundays.

As a Deck Electrician I pulled, ran, installed, spliced, and organized cables on submarines. Electricians also used specialized tools to install the cableway electrical hangers to keep everything in place as per the drawings and schematics. Reading drawings and schematics, and understanding and interpretation is vital to the Shipyard as a whole.The job of an electrician is unique in that it requires an individual that can quickly switch between differing tasks.

As an Electrician onboard USS Ashland I learned all parts of not only the electrical job but of many different jobs. Electrically I learned anything and everything from lighting to generators. I had a specialty school for cargo and weapons elevators where I was one of three electricians onboard qualified to not only run but also troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all 4 elevators onboard. Lighting I have done everything as simple as changing a bulb, to pulling apart entire fixtures and reassembling them, to hand over handing the distribution cables. This also include chasing grounds from fixture to fixture and removing the ground.Kitchenware maintainace and repair included but not limited to troubleshooting and replacing parts inside the scullery (where the dishes are washed), the stoves, the trash dispensers, heating elements, and the fire sprinkler system.Motors included connecting and disconnecting, tagging out of commission including fuse and breaker removal, meggering, taking readings both live and dead, removal and replacement, starting operation, motor controllers and contactors, associated valves and piping, and full operational status.Generators include but not limited to, operating specifications and parameters, plant maintenance and cleanliness, paralleling multiple generators, emergency operations, load control and balancing, switching from generators to shore power and back, brush stoning and replacement, switchboard disassembly and cleaning, live start up of switchboards, switchboard distribution, and rigging of shore power cables.Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to Electrical tool operations where all electrical tools for shipboard use. This position also included checking all portable equipment, such as cell phone chargers or alarm clocks, to make sure they were electrically safe. Additionally I was in also in charge of shipboard firefighting equipment to ensure safety and operational use.
