Ed Lederman Photography
Greater New York City Area
Ed Lederman continues to thrive as one of New York City’s leading architectural photographers. His career has required him to master both the art of photography as well as the art of commitment. Drawn to the medium from the age of 13, Ed began practicing his craft with a Nikon F2 that he bought with money he earned mowing lawns. Part of what Ed loved about the lens was the newfound ability it gave him to illuminate the human condition. That fascination led him to study psychology at Boston University. After graduating, Ed realized that he wouldn’t be satisfied practicing photography only as a hobby because it was his foremost passion. He deferred his admittance to graduate school and embarked on a lifelong mission to capture the beauty of New York City and its people in photographs. The first few years of Ed’s photography career demanded all the commitment he could muster. Gradually, the challenging days of cold-calling turned into weeks of creativity, which grew into a lasting impressive career. Ed has been the architectural photographer for many of New York City’s iconic buildings, public spaces, and projects, ranging from the Statue of Liberty to Central Park. From 2010-2016, Ed was the lead photographer documenting the construction of the new Whitney Museum. He has also been one of the premier photographers for the New York City Marathon. Ed’s clients have included Pen America, Sony Classical, and the Corcoran Group and he has shot portraits of numerous artists including Wynton Marsalis, Yoyo Ma, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Pussy Riot, J.K. Rowling, Salman Rushdie, and Isaac Stern among others. Ed’s photography has appeared in numerous influential publications; in 2017 alone, his work appeared in Time magazine and the New York Times. Bryant Park. In 2018, Ed expanded his creative efforts into video; his video montages are currently showing 24/7 on the video walls at 7 Bryant Park.
