I took a year in industry placement, working for Numatic International, famous for the 'Henry' vaccum cleaner. Working within the Production Engineering team on an integration project. My core responsibilities involved: Restructuring of Bills of Materials (BOMs); Removal of ‘phantom’ items; Updating of routings (how products are processed and tracked around the factory, also provides timing and costing over views); Reclassifying items as ‘obsolete’ if not ordered within a 2 year period; Creation of new ‘subassemblies’; Collaborated with the shop floor and applied the feedback to the project, incorporating suggested design modifications and successfully reduced wear and tear. Used Microsoft office tools and Oracle for Manufacturing Resourcing Planning. At the end of the placement I had updated the Bills of Materials for 60% of Numatic’s products, including add-ons and options for different markets, and eliminated phantom and obsolete items with associated cost savings.

This was my first job after completing an IT course following on from school.I was responsible for fixing day to day technical and AV issues, as well as being involved in numerous projects, such as re-imaging all of the staff laptops within a constrictive time frame.I also took on the role for being responsible for a local junior school, to assist with IT issues that they encountered, from physical machine and projector issues, to creating new IT accounts.
