Primary responsibilities include 2 oxy - gas fired melters with 5 zones of electric boost, air - gas fired and O2 - gas fired forehearths. This included managing projects for repairs and upgrades as well as operations. Managed the furnace hot repair team. Responsible as a backup for the abatement and batch areas which included the bag house, dry scrubbers, pneumatic unloading and transfer system and batch house. I took over full responsibility for the batch and abatement areas in June 2014.Revised O2 – gas forehearth burner flow control to get higher capacities to maintain temperatures needed for production. Revised the electric boost systems to get more energy into the glass by adding cooling and revising instrumentation.Worked on the already in place 2013 Melter and forehearth rebuild. Have been making plans for upcoming 2016 rebuild.Coordinated many projects to enhance furnace life including, bubbler block holders and sidewall supports. Instrumental in applying new melter heating profiles and identifying chemistry issues which were causing melter temperature stability issues. Returned the abatement dust transfer system from a non-function system to a fully functional and reliable system. Returned two plugged silos to a fully functional status with improved capabilities to clean out blockages in the future. Put plans in place to seal roofs of all batch silos.Put plans in place to enhance the operation and cleanout of a poor performing scrubber.

Develop, design, program, implement and support all controls for batch, furnace, forehearths and lehrs. Duties also included combustion systems. Controls algorithm design and programming, Allen bradley plc development including plc 5, slc 500 and control logix. Wonderware and RSView ME and SE. Have also configured Siemens and Danfoss VFDs. Worked with Siemens PCS7 System for Libbey furnace start up in Royal Leerdam.Advanced state of the art of lehr anealing and energy efficiency.Worked on a DOE /GMIC project with Argonne National Laboratories and Mississippi State University to develop a Glass Melting Furnace CFD Modeling Program.

Responsibilities included engineering, programming, installation, troubleshooting and purchasing equipment.
