Impacted two critical areas within a short time period. Recognized need for workforce efficiency and productivity to improve support to over 3,000 full-time positions. Initiated procedures to strengthen cooperation and teamwork throughout the assigned workforce by interviewing each employee to determine their personal goals, career aspirations, and performance obstacles, as well as conducting regular group meetings to solicit employee input and ideas. Fostered a team approach by encouraging the sharing of information and opinions and, over a three-month period, unscheduled absenteeism was reduced by 60 percent. At the same time there was a critical need to develop a strategy to eliminate a backlog and accelerate the processing of civilian Request for Personnel Actions (RPAs). To attain this objective I sought out and encouraged employee-developed improvements and performance matrix to RPA processing which produced a 25 percent reduction in processing time. Because of my commitment to soliciting employee feedback and participation in the workflow process, I inspired ownership of the system while simultaneously instilling a strong sense of personal accountability for team performance standards. Oversaw the revamping and streamlining of in and out processing of Secretariat Senior Executive Service and Presidential Appointees. Represented the organization in a wide variety of meetings involving OSD, Services, Joint Staff and Congressional staffers. Show less
