This involved managing a group of up to 4 specialist brokers while ensuring aggressive targets were met and surpassed. Working closely with the terrorism and contingency risk insurance market, I was readily involved in the scrutinising, structuring and execution of complex risk transfer solutions primarily for large Real Estate portfolios situated in Manhattan and other concentrated city landscapes across the United States. Where possible, this also included utilising client captives as an effective vehicle to access co-insurance provided by the US Government in accordance with the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and its subsequent renewals and extensions. This ensured clients obtained the large limits of insurance that they required, as well as the breadth of coverage, all which would not have been possible - or at least would have been very difficult - to acquire within the stand alone commercial terrorism market. The contingent coverage also necessary within such contracts, and in the case of the non-renewal of TRIA, was put to the test during the brief lapsing of the act in January 2015. Fortunately, I was able to ensure that clients remained adequately protected through emergency short term policies. My role was further supplemented by increasing client understanding in risk analytics and the tools available (or being developed) to help them appreciate their risks and exposures. My role also included regular face-to-face engagement with clients to impart my knowledge on the latest market developments and products available to satisfy their ever-changing needs. Show less
