Project Manager UMCG / RUG Groningen UNISEC consortium www.unisecconsortium.eu Within this large international FP7 research project we developed and tested a variety of different candidate universal influenza vaccines in clinical trials studies.My contribution to this project were as follows:• Day-to-day management of the project partners consisting of 3 companies, 4 national health institutes, 6 clinical trial sites and 4 universities throughout Europe. • Acquisition to generate additional funding for projects and trial studies: Horizon2020, NIH, BARDA, Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, European Investment Bank• Development of new guidelines and regulations together with regulatory organizations EMA and FDA (vaccine working party meetings and innovative task force meetings)• Annual meetings with individual stakeholders WHO, Gates foundation, NIH, ECDC, DG-SANCO, European Commission, pharmaceutical companies• Management of clinical trial studies (phase I, IIa, IIb and cohort studies)• Coordination of all communication, 12 TV and radio documentaries, 20 newspaper articles, 4 political meetings in Brussels, London and Washington) and newsletter, social media, website management. • Organization of annual scientific conferences throughout Europe• Documentation of project performance and progress in technical reports. We completed the very succesfull UNISEC consortium project and initiated and submitted new grant proposals to continue the activities. Different networks of partners have been established for acquisition through the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, NIH/NIAID and EU Horizon 2020.
