Rotary Club of Morrisville, NC was chartered in May 1999 (Charter Members). Sponsored by Cleve Folger from the Cary Page Rotary Club. The club started with 21 members from the triangle area. Charter members included people in finance, banking, insurance, technology, hospitality, healthcare, auto, construction and catering industries. The benefit of being located between Cary and Research Triangle Park has always been access to a variety of industries, companies and great cultural diversity. The Morrisville Rotary Club has always been well represented along those lines.Currently our fundraisers are an annual golf tournament in September, a Wine Tasting held in June, and our annual Poinsettia Plant Sale held prior to Thanksgiving each year. Proceeds from these fundraisers are allocated across a wide spectrum of local organizations. These include the Salvation Army, The Tammy Lynn Center, The Carying Place, Boys and Girls Clubs of Lake Waccamaw, and Life Experiences. Other hands on participation and investments in our community have included Adopt-A-Highway, the Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, and Green Hope High School Interact. We also use a portion of fundraising proceeds to work internationally with other Rotary Clubs. We provided funds to purchase computer technology for students in a K through grade 12 school in Brazil. We contributed to a major construction project in Pune, India to build a facility for housing AIDS affective / HIV affected children, birth to 5 years. Another initiative near and dear to our hearts is the Zimbabwe Eye Project. We aim to eradicate preventable blindness, partner with Zimbabwean doctors and nurses to train medical personnel to improve the treatment of eye diseases and to enhance basic training for dispensing eyeglasses.The Rotary Club of Morrisville is an energetic group of professionals who take being a Rotarian seriously, and enjoy the fun, food and camaraderie of the diverse group. We range in age from the early 30’s to over 80, and have diversity of race and nationality.
