I'm a recent MA graduate with an interdisciplinary approach to everything I do. I have a science and arts background, with a BSc, BA (hons), and MA covering physics, chemistry, calculus, linguistics, English, French, geology, geography, and environmental science. My experience is primarily in education, research, writing, editing, data analysis, technical assembly and lab work.I enjoy finding novel solutions to problems, applying creative lateral thinking, and singing aloud as I ride my bike to work. Other interests include making music and pixel art, game development, graphic design and endurance sports. My academic interests are centered around multimodal communication of embodied states of being, with a recent tilt towards cognitive semiotics - I'm interested in how people express mental and emotional states to others and how they process and understand these states themselves. I study the ways that culture and language (grammar, categorization, etc.) influence our understanding of ourselves and others, and how multimodal forms of communication (film, TV, memes, computer games, art, etc.) may extend or alter culturally embedded notions of complex psychological states.
