  • Carborundum, Issc, M&T Bank
    Application Programmer
    Carborundum, Issc, M&T Bank Jan 1981 - May 2008
On my first job, I used Clist's to access an online programming utility to trouble shoot program problems. I resolved a programming issue that caused a production program to loop. I also used this utility to help solve another groups looping problem that they could not resolve after working several weeks on it. During my application contracting experience I created a RACF online ISPF system to create RACF entries on multiple MVS environments. I also created an online CICS security program. An application programmer told me at one of his shops all he would have to do is enter SUB while editing a program and a submission job would be submitted. I created a SUBC REXX program to do the same. I accessed PANAPT libraries to create the JCL.Created and modified recertification reports, audit reports, and metrics reports. Participated in internal and external audit reviews, and provided security expertise..
  • M&T Bank
    Cics Systems Programmer
    M&T Bank 1999 - 2006
Installed new CICS releases and CICS program products using SMP/E. Enhanced the CICS environment by: creating started tasks, batch reports, ISPF dialogs, assembler exits, CICS programs, and REXX utilities.
  • M&T Bank
    Cics Systems Programmer
    M&T Bank 1999 - 2006
Created MONCICS STC to monitor all CICS regions on a 24X7 basis. During the day the STC would report problems to the CICS programmers via TSO SEND messages and TPX messages. At night messages would be sent to the console.Monitored CICS with OMEGAMON Portal. All problems would send different messages to my PC when CICS had omegamon issues.Created many CICS reports. 1. CICS COLD start reports. Displays what happens when a CICS region is COLD started2. Monthly CICS activity3. Omegamon performance activity4. CICS CSD activity5. Daily production CICS EOD reports6. CICS file stats
  • Carborundum, Ltv Sierra Research
    Mvs System Programmer
    Carborundum, Ltv Sierra Research 1984 - 1993
On my first MVS system programming job, backups jobs were done per disk drive and they were all run at once. I createdf batch jobs per channel and added steps for each disk drive on that channel. The new channel batch jobs took half the time as the previous backup.During my next few years in MVS I installed a MAS environment. I worked with VTAM and NCP. I upgraded a Data General to MVS conversion job. Since the programmers where not used to the new environment I created an ISPF clist system. It had compiles of all our products and it would also save compile and linked options. To move a program into production a systems programmer moved the programs from test to production libraries. I created a production change ISPF system that would move all test modules to production. The manager would have to sign off on the request and operations would activate the production job to move the test modules to production. An operations person told me that all he had to due was enter BYE to shut down a Data General computer. I used TSSO and an automated JES2 environment to IPL a system on 2 machines, and enter BYE to sign off on both machines. I used many Assembler exits to help the application programmer. They eliminated the JCL errors that occurred after the JCL was started.
