I founded and run E40 Communications, a small flexible company specialised in the development, communication and transfer of knowledge in Europe - working at all points on the knowledge cycle.We develop new knowledge through studies and research. We produce and edit knowledge outputs as well as communications materials to disseminate knowledge. We develop, implement and monitor communication strategies and campaigns. We offer writing, editing and graphic design services. We facilitate transnational networking to support information exchange, learning and knowledge transfer. We also conduct evaluations and reviews of projects and organisations - particularly at European level and offer bespoke training and coaching around all aspects of our work and thematic expertise.We only work with clients that we believe in - particularly European networks, institutions, projects and programmes aiming to achieve important social and environmental objectives. In return, we offer a highly personalised and committed service.Current and recent clients/contracts include: European Urban Initiative (EUI); Council of European Cities and Municipalities (CEMR); URBACT Programme; European Training Foundation (ETF); and the European Network of Public Employment Services (PES Network).

E40 Group is created to offer specific services in stakeholder engagement, European networking, project leadership and communication, with specific expertise in sustainable local development policy in urban and rural contexts. E40 combines the skills and experience of dynamic professionals with many years’ experience and a shared philosophy in how to facilitate European networking and exchange, closing the gap between European policy-making and stakeholders on the ground and supporting evidence-based policy-making using the results of research.E40 Communications is part of E40 Group, contributing directly to projects including the European 'Preparatory Action' on Smart Rural Areas in the 21st Century (Smart Rural 21) and the follow-up Smart Rural 27 project.

I am in the URBACT pool of experts as an approved Lead Expert for URBACT networks, as well as for ad hoc and programme-level missions to support the URBACT programme's work in supporting integrated approaches to sustainable urban development in Europe.My first Ad Hoc Expert mission was in 2022, when I was appointed by the 'BeePathNet Reloaded' Transfer Network (2nd generation) to support their planning and preparations for their post-URBACT life as the new Bee Path Cities network.I also led two studies into the Integrated Action Plans (IAPs) developed by URBACT cities in the two rounds of Action Planning Networks which concluded in 2018 & 2022. On this basis, I helped update the guidance provided to cities, including a new and more detailed breakdown of the concept of integration in an urban development context and a more iterative approach to IAP development.In 2022, I was selected as co-moderator of the URBACT City Festival 2022 - a truly inspiring event bringing together cities and experts to exchange and learn from across Europe.

I spent many years offering a range of support services - specialising in networking, communications and evaluation - for the public and not-for-profit sectors in the EU.Clients included the LIFE Programme, DG Employment, other European institutions, Eurochild, FEANTSA, the European Anti Poverty Network (EAPN), Eurodad (Debt and Development), EuroIFInet, Make Fruit Fair, CounterBalance and the International Seafarers Assistance Network.

I worked in the URBACT Secretariat to coordinate and support the work of the National URBACT Points in increasing engagement with the URBACT III Programme and the uptake of URBACT knowledge and results by urban policy stakeholders. I was a member of the internal Task Force that prepared and delivered the major transnational exchange event, the 2018 URBACT City Festival in Lisbon (Sep 2018). I was also responsible for maintaining and developing certain key strategic partnerships for URBACT. The URBACT III programme aims to foster sustainable integrated urban development by enabling cities to work together in networks to learn from one another’s experiences, draw lessons and identify good practices. It is an instrument of EU Cohesion Policy, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the 28 Member States, Norway & Switzerland.

I coordinated the communications activities of the European Network for Rural Development. Responsibilities included development of the overall communications strategy of the network and production of newsletters, magazines, thematic publications and project brochures; also coordination with work on the website and social media. The role involved close coordination with other members of the team, in particular in support of European networking and exchange.

I wrote for the external communications team of the LIFE programme, producing thematic brochures, newsletters, project summaries and information factsheets on the LIFE programme and projects. Responsibilities included visiting LIFE project beneficiaries to conduct interviews for brochure articles

Represented all the European Organisations in membership of the European Anti Poverty Network on the network's Executive Committee. Responsibilities also included chairing meetings of the European Organisations to ensure ongoing feedback and input between Committee meetings.

Represented firstly Autism Europe and then AGE Platform Europe in meetings of the European Social Platform. This involved contributing to joint strategies and positions on EU social policy issues, joint work on EU enlargement, and information sharing.

Responsible for enlargement of the network when the EU enlarged from 15 to 25 states in 2004.Successfully applied for and ran a European Commission-funded transnational project on social inclusion of older people.

Ran the office during maternity leave of both Director and Administrator. Responsible for everything from communications to accounts and from membership to political representation and networking with other NGOs in Brussels.Successfully applied for and ran a European Commission-funded communications project for the European Year of People with Disabilities
