I’m a well-rounded technology leader/manager with both a business and technical background. I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, worked on Wall Street as an investment analyst, and am currently a department head and product owner in IT at a mid-sized investments firm.My tech background includes python, .Net (C#), Azure, SQL, and multiple other technologies. I am a Certified Scrum Product Owner, and I lead Agile teams that support Investment Technology. I took a data science class from Galvanize in 2018 that included statistics and probability, python, machine learning, and AI, so I have quantitative skills as well. On the business side, I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, and am a CFA Charterholder and a Certified Financial Risk Manager.I originally worked for major investments banks and hedge funds as an investment analyst in NYC. I then worked for myself developing software for trading strategies for over 10 years where I became self-taught in technology. Since 2018, I’ve worked in IT at Janus Henderson Investors (“JHI”) in Denver. I started as a contractor in software development, was hired full-time about a year later, subsequently promoted to product owner, then to manager, and in 2024 to Head of Solutions Technology. My excellent communication skills were cited as a key factor when I was promoted. I can explain complex technical matters to the business partners, and explain advanced business/investment concepts to the tech staff. My team and I are well-known throughout JHI and senior management, including the CEO, COO, CTO, CFO, and many department heads. The department I lead supports several growth areas at JHI. I’m product owner for an investments analysis tool we developed that the Distribution team uses—data shows when a salesperson goes on a call and uses our product versus not, they have over 4 times higher net sales. My team also supports several portfolio managers and growth areas such as ETFs and our models business. My family lives in Colorado, and I enjoy the great outdoors, including hiking and road biking. I was the founder of, and for nearly 8 years was the Organizer of, the popular After Work Hiking Plus! Meetup, which at its peak had over 5000 members. I led over 400 hikes and 25 trail work days. I've also been a hike leader and assistant instructor in the Colorado Mountain Club. I've hiked about half of the Colorado 14ers. Since June 2022, I’ve organized trail work days twice a year at local parks where JHI coworkers can volunteer to help with trail maintenance—in June 2024 we had over 40 participants.
