With a name like Ed Wright - it's a case of nominative determinism. I have spent my life crafting a successful writing, editing and creative career underpinned by a life-long fascination with words and their effects.I am passionate about crafting compelling copy that connects my clients with their audiences and that ranges from engaging to informative, educative to persuasive through to factual, research-based content. The challenge of helping businesses get the right message to the right people is something I relish. Key areas of my expertise include crafting long-form copy such as blogs and white papers and conducting detailed research and interviews to drive informative content. My clients have included the Department of Foreign Affairs and The City of Sydney, but I am equally as comfortable working with small businesses. I have also worked as a freelance editor for clients ranging from individuals to ABC Books and Harper Collins. My extensive multi-faceted experience in the publishing industry has allowed me to develop a unique perspective on Australia's literary ecosystem. For several decades I have also been a book reviewer for publications including The South China Morning Post, Sydney Morning Herald, and The Australian newspaper. I pride myself on my impeccable technical capabilities, industry-leading language skills and keen eye for detail. Some of my proudest achievements include:- As editor and publisher of indie literary press, Puncher and Wattmann, I have had two titles short-listed for the Miles Franklin award, Australia's most prestigious literary prize. - Writing a suite of my own books including Ghost of a Chance, winner of the Griffith Review Novella Award, eight popular history titles, including the best-selling Left-handed History of the World (Pier 9), and three books of well-reviewed poetry.- Running hundreds of Creative Writing Workshops which have taught thousands of school kids how to think creatively and write with passion. The services I offer include (but are not limited to) copywriting, copy editing, structural editing, manuscript assessments, preparation of white papers, ghost writing, web content development, brand strategy creation, publishing and marketing. Additionally, I also lead creative writing courses and creative writing mentoring to children and adults at The Creative Word Shop in Newcastle via Zoom, in-person and through school-based programs. If you'd like to learn more about me and the value I can bring to your organisation - please feel free to reach out!
