As a fellow scientist in Prof. Dr. Suna Timur’s research group, my responsibilities were the design of different biosensors and smart surfaces, synthesis and bioconjugation of nanomaterials, their applications for both electrochemical and optical biosensing platforms for different analytes such as abused drugs, pesticides and biomarkers, in the field of point-of-care diagnostics for resource-limited settings.Took part in establishing the 'Abused Drugs Biosensor Design Lab' for the department. I was responsible for lab management, new recruitment training, grant proposal writing, budgeting, and project closing.Attended regular meetings as an MC (management committee) substitute in the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) action 'CliniMARK: ‘good biomarker practice’ to increase the number of clinically validated biomarkers', and contributed to the action as a visiting scientist at other institutions and maintained cross-cultural good relationships with other members of the community.Authored 11 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journalsWrote a COST Project proposal in IVD for biomarker detectionPublished 2 review articles that were distinctly beyond my expertise, digging into the literature and crafting a narrativeProactively led ‘The Biosensor Laboratory for Abused Drug Sensing’ initiative, establishing a brand-new laboratory focusing solely on biosensor developmentDeveloped a novel smartphone-based colorimetric dot-blot on paper assay for cancer biomarker detection, which has been cited 50+ times by high-impact journalsOrganized international scientific workshops for >100 attendees Participated as a visiting researcher at BRFA of Athens and Mosaiques Diagnostics and Therapeutics GmbH, maintaining cross-cultural relations among various nationalitiesPresented research work at 2 international conferences and won best poster presentation
