While serving as VP-Internatonal Operations, served as company representative to AIM, which was then a emerging product section of the Material Handling Institute (MHI). Served as VP-Communications, VP-Shows, and served on the Board and Executive Committee for MHI. Spearheaded movement to elevate AIM to an independent trade association, became a co-founder and first president of AIM Inc., trade association of the Automatic Identification Manufacturers Industry. Established the Scan-Tech Trade Show, co-founded the international trade association (AIM International) and served as its first chairman. Became the first recipient of the industry's highest award, The Richard R. Dilling Award, presented annually to an individual who made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the industry or its technologies.
