This includes maintaining an up-to-date portfolio of competitive courses, managing Schoolwide projects and initiatives, and directing the teaching responsibilities of a diverse and dynamic team of academic researchers.Of particular interest to me is a University curriculum connected to industry and commerce, focused on work-life skills and innovation, as well as a Physics department with a strong sense of community. With a first class MSci degree in Physics from Nottingham Trent University and a PhD in Magnetic Resonance from the University of Nottingham, my primary interests in physics are exotic NMR and MRI experiments, as well as scientific communication. I am currently a Principal Lecturer of Physics and Undergraduate Courses Manager at Nottingham Trent University, acting as academic lead for the team and primary undergraduate course developer for the Physics provision at NTU. I lecture topics in Thermodynamics, Materials Science, Semiconductor Physics, Ionizing Radiation and Nuclear Reactors, taking pride in an engaging, multi-platform teaching style to convey advanced topics in physics. I also act as regional secretary for the East Midlands branch of the Institute of Physics and hold a position as a charitable trustee of Green's Windmill, Snienton. During my PhD I became familiar with MATLAB and LabVIEW and covered a wide range of laboratory physics including, but not limited to, lasers, optics and quasi-optics, cryogenics, vacuum systems and electronics. In my current role I supervise various summer and final year undergraduate projects, as well as undergraduate laboratory work and advanced experimental techniques. I particularly enjoy communicating ideas in science to members of the public, schools and other diverse audiences. I develop outreach tools for NTU Physics and have been invited to give international talks featuring live scientific demonstration.
