Across diverse documentary formats, I specialise in delivering impactful, articulate, compassionate, high quality but affordable content for charities, universities/education, research projects, brands, the public sector and private businesses both large and small.I also work as a freelance self-shooting director, camera person, director of photography, videographer, drone pilot, stills photographer and video editor.I have a supportive, down-to-earth, friendly and 'confident yet humble' demeanor which, coupled with a relentless commitment to reliability and organisational efficiency, works well for the kinds of clients mentioned above and serves to keep contributors/interviewees relaxed, assured and engaged.I established Sort Of...Films in 2003 and built it into a successful production agency by prioritising reliability, CPD, a grounded approach and an emphasis on bespoke cinematic storytelling and attention to detail. I prize emotional and narrative substance, coherence and economy. I obsessively study the medium, history and technology of film and documentary and have a background as a lecturer/tutor in film studies. I'm also an experienced musician and bring knowledge of music composition, arrangement, production and performance into my filmmaking approach.Personal interests and motivators include equality, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, environmental issues and conservation.
