I'm an experienced, multi-disciplinary filmmaker and MD of Yorkshire-based production company Sort Of...Films Ltd. Across diverse documentary formats, I specialise in delivering impactful, articulate, compassionate, high quality but affordable content for charities, universities/education, research projects, brands, the public sector and private businesses both large and small.I also work as a freelance self-shooting director, camera person, director of photography, videographer, drone pilot, stills photographer and video editor.I have a supportive, down-to-earth, friendly and 'confident yet humble' demeanor which, coupled with a relentless commitment to reliability and organisational efficiency, works well for the kinds of clients mentioned above and serves to keep contributors/interviewees relaxed, assured and engaged.I established Sort Of...Films in 2003 and built it into a successful production agency by prioritising reliability, CPD, a grounded approach and an emphasis on bespoke cinematic storytelling and attention to detail. I prize emotional and narrative substance, coherence and economy. I obsessively study the medium, history and technology of film and documentary and have a background as a lecturer/tutor in film studies.
