Executive Vice President/Chief Lending Officer-TxThe F&M Bank & Trust Company Apr 2010 - Jan 2012Tulsa, Ok, UsIn April of 2010, I was recruited by F&M Bank to lead the Texas operation in developing and managing an aggressive plan for growth and increased market presence. I structured the reorganization of the Texas market, beginning with retail, credit administration, marketing and lending operations. In the first 18 months, we exited over $40mm in loan relationships within the inherited $125mm portfolio. I upgraded the experience level of our lending and credit staff and decentralized our lending operations focusing on key areas of lending specialities in corporate middle market, equipment, energy and healthcare. Within the first 20 months, we grew staff from 7 to over 35, and gained market share of over $300mm in loans, $60mm in deposits and over $4mm in loan fees. We upgraded our core client profile from a small business (with average borrowing of $500m) to a middle market corporate borrower with average loan commitments ranging from $1-25mm through both direct loans and multi-bank participations. We carefully managed our aggressive growth by creating clearly defined lines of business reporting, improved business processes and an in-house credit administration tracking system. We built alliances with local strategic partners, media outlets and correspondent banks. Within 2 short years, I had acquired top talent from large multi-national organizations and built a high quality team of the most respected bankers in town. With over $350mm in loan growth during my tenure, our credit quality was not compromised. A key factor in holding to a quality portfolio, I had our corporate finance department team up with our sales staff to design and build-out an in-house cloud-based platform to improve workflow, create incentive based report tracking and monitor portfolio concentrations. Our cloud based platform was designed in-house, saving over $100m in development costs, giving us the flexibility to customize reporting on demand. My position was eliminated in 2012. -
Market CeoSterling Bank Apr 2007 - Apr 2010UsIn April of 2007, I was recruited from Bank of Texas to be the Market CEO for Sterling Bank in North Dallas. I was responsible for the build-out of 2 lending offices and the restructuring of a sub-par loan portfolio. A newly hired executive assistant from a previous employer helped rebuild a very disconnected team. I replaced key staff and hired a top business development officer. He and I made personal visits to the entire loan portfolio, finding that many of our clients were simply neglected and in need of special attention. Within 6 months, we opened 20 new accounts and 16 new loan relationships generating over $100,000 in bank fees. With an average loan size of $500m, this was an accomplishment. The second office was challenged with a sub-par loan portfolio consisting of several small consumer based loans. Client reporting was disorganized and the relationship with the consumer branch was minimal. This office happened to be located within the top producing branch office for consumer customers, which provided us with tremendous upside with a client base that would literally walk in the door. It took us two full years to organize reporting, but after adding key staff and forging a working relationship with our branch office, we were the top producing office for commercial loans and credit quality. In April 2010, I was recruited by F&M Bank to build out their Texas operation. Shortly after this time, Sterling Bank sold to Comerica Bank. -
Vice PresidentBank Of Texas 2004 - 2007Dallas, Tx, UsManaged and developed business banking clients for lending, deposits, treasury management and investments. Client revenues ranged from $1,000,000 to $20,000,000 annually. Loan proposals included working capital, equipment, real estate, re-capitalizations and mergers & acquisitions for small to mid sized companies. Was the top producing officer in 2006 for the Business banking group at Royal Lane, growing a portfolio organically from $0 - $33MM. Successfully generated the single largest deposit customer of the organization, bringing in a $40,000,000 account for a public oil & gas developer in DFW. The deposit base for the entire branch was $110,000,000, which was built over a 20 year time period. -
Business Financial AdvisorMerrill Lynch 2000 - 2004New York, Ny, UsLead an office of 144 financial advisors in developing corporate lending relationships providing business financing and cash management services to middle market business owners with loans of up to $30,000,000 and corporate cash management of up to $100,000,000. Other roles were in the designing of corporate retirement plans and coordinating merger & acquisition advisory engagements (ie: raising of private capital, structuring ESOP’s and sell-side advisory services) through a distribution channel of local boutique investment banking relationships.Created and designed a corporate development plan for the banking division of Merrill Lynch to include: calling dialogue, formation of corporate alliances, public relations awareness and overall market penetration. I was recruited by Bank of Texas to grow a business loan portfolio from the ground up and train for management. -
Vice PresidentComerica Bank 1995 - 2000Dallas, Tx, UsI managed and monitored a $100,000,000 portfolio of corporate middle market loans during my tenure. From 1999-2000, I restructured, renegotiated and refinanced over $30,000,000 in under-performing credits as a result of a deteriorating credit market. Result: No under-performing loans in portfolio.I negotiated, structured, documented and funded a $45,000,000 Revolving Line of Credit and Term B Financing for the single largest Comerica Bank-Texas customer in 2001. I was a senior collateral agent responsible for a $25,000,000 participation in a $100,000,000 multi-bank syndicated bank facility, monitoring 1,500 trailer titles and UCC filings for a 5 bank group.I represented a $150,000,000 transportation company as corporate banker/advisor in a sale transaction involving an equity buyout of a second generation family business. My tenure at Comerica began as a credit analyst with the most respected training program in the industry. This lead me to an opportunity to provide a higher level of advisory services to middle market companies with a licensed position at Merrill Lynch.
