Managing staff and volunteers for policy/legal advocacy, coalition building, fundraising:Brightline Defense is a public policy nonprofit dedicated to environmental justice issues, ranging from increased solar access for low-income communities to targeted jobs for underemployed local residents. For its many workforce and environmental policy campaigns, Brightline has convened diverse coalitions of over 100 leaders from forty community groups, labor unions, private companies, think tanks, and government to develop environmental and job strategies. Brightline also cultivates national networks to further forward-thinking environmental and workforce policies at the federal, state, and local levels in diverse geographic areas such as California, Delaware, Tennessee, and New Jersey.

As the SF Bay Area region’s financing, coordinating, and planning authority, MTC supports the streets, roads, highways, transit systems, airports and other transportation resources that help region's 7 million residents — and countless visitors — get to where they need to be. The movement of goods through the region's ports, roads and freight rail lines also falls within our scope. MTC works in partnership with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the California Highway Patrol, 101 cities, nine counties, more than two dozen public transit agencies, county congestion management agencies, and many others to keep the Bay Area moving — for residents, visitors and businesses alike.

The SF Commission on the Environment sets policy for the SF Department of Environment and advises the Mayor and Board of Supervisors on environmental matters. Employing approximately 100 staffers, the SF Department of Environment implements seven programs that fight climate change, and promote sustainability in energy, transportation, building, waste management, jobs, grantmaking, and beyond.I have been elected to serve as President of the Commission throughout 2022. In addition to general meetings convening its seven appointed members, the Commission has two committee meetings to carry on its work. I have served on both the Operations Committee and the Policy Committee.

On April 25, 2018, the Speaker of the State Assembly appointed me to the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), a state planning and regulatory agency with regional authority over the San Francisco Bay Area. While overseeing responsible development and public access as well as addressing the impacts of rising sea levels, BCDC was created in 1965 and is the nation’s oldest coastal zone agency.I currently chair the Environmental Justice Working Group.

Asian Pacific Environmental Network is an environmental justice organization with deep roots in California’s Asian immigrant and refugee communities. Since 1993, we’ve built a membership base of Laotian refugees in Richmond and Chinese immigrants in Oakland.

Since 1971, Mission Housing Development Corporation provides affordable housing options to residents of San Francisco. Now, Mission Housing is one of the largest nonprofit housing organizations in San Francisco, owning or managing 35 buildings. The organization currently serves almost 3,000 residents in 1,600 units. 350 additional rental units are being developed.
