Versatile, curious, and self-sufficient worker with a unique background in literature, accounting, radio, and finance. Adept at bookkeeping, critical problem solving, data analysis, communication of all types, employee management, and detail-oriented work. Seeking to leave academia for a career in which I can apply my distinct blend of bookkeeping and language skills in support of education, the arts, and public wellbeing. Looking to start as soon as April 2024. Currently, I am remotely employed as the full charge bookkeeper for James Oil Pacific Pride, using Quickbooks to process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, account reconciliation, and month-end reports for the company. I am also enrolled in University of California, Santa Barbara's English PhD program at the moment, in which I study digital media infrastructures and the aesthetics of meaninglessness in literature, music, and visual art. Previously, I earned my Master's in English Literature from University of Colorado-Boulder and both a B.A. in Economics and minor in Business from Rice University. I have also spent time in retail, working as a bookseller for a year and a half at Diesel, A Bookstore. With my diverse background, I have cultivated a uniquely versatile skill set. Throughout my graduate studies in English, I gained proficiency in critical thinking, editing/proofreading, and both analytical and creative writing. I am a clear, capable communicator in written and verbal contexts, able to effectively structure and reiterate critical arguments in both face to face and digital environments. With my undergraduate background in Economics and Business and my career as a bookkeeper, I've gained excellent data analysis skills, knowledge of human behavior, and technical comprehension of markets, accounts, and general business practice. From my tenure as a bookseller, I developed effective customer service, interpersonal communication, and sales skills, particularly in connecting customers to products that fulfill their taste profile and interests. Broadly, I've developed skills in both team and independent settings throughout these varied experiences. Therefore, I am able to comfortably and productively work in both. I have experience working as a leader, as a team member, and anything in between. I have experience training and managing employees, but am also willing to take a step back and contribute to a leader's vision for a project.
