After leaving school in 1979, I served an Apprenticeship with British Gas with whom I worked for 16 years. I developed through Craftsman, Technician, Supervisor and Engineering Officer roles before changing to a management position in Supplies. After redundancy, I started as Production Technician with BP in Grangemouth, moving into Control Room Operations and Deputy Shift Leader. I then moved to Sangachal Terminal in Azerbaijan, to work as a Production Tech/CRT Coach through the Construction, Commissioning, Start-up and Operations phases, on Shah Deniz Gas Terminal, where I became Operations Supervisor/Coach.My next post was in Rumaila, Iraq where I was an Operations Specialist, advising Site Engineers and Controllers, in all aspects of Oil and gas separation, including Control of Work, Turnaround and Project implementation. I returned to Grangemouth as an Operations Team Leader, to help with the design and HAZOP of a Combined Heat and Power Plant. During early construction and Operations Readiness preparation, the site was sold and I moved on to the Clair Ridge Project where, after a short period providing support from the beach, I became Site Controller for construction and commissioning phases and then Operations Acceptance Authority for the acceptance of the final few systems.My last posting with BP was West Nile Delta, where I was Operations Acceptance Authority for the Raven Project and assisted with Control of Work for the WND site. I decided I had spent enough time away from home and have retired from the company. I would like to continue working for a few more years and would be available for home based work. I would be open to occasional travel, as and when required. My preference would be for renewable energy or decommissioning work. Otherwise, I would be happy to help out where any of my experience can be beneficial.
