Eddie Buchanan is a nationally recognized author and speaker on leadership, training, and fire department operations. He possesses extensive executive experience in policy development and administration, human resources management, strategic fiscal management, and complex logistics and support operations.Buchanan has extensive experience in adult education and training, coordinating and delivering training for first responders operating in fast-paced and hazardous environments. He has developed various training programs offered through both in-person and distance education methods. Additionally, he has advanced media production experience, including audio and video production. He authored and produced the “Principles of Modern Fire Attack Video Series” for the International Society of Fire Service Instructors.As a published author, Buchanan has written several fire service publications, including the “Training Officer’s Handbook” and the “Volunteer Training Officer’s Handbook.” He retired as Assistant Chief with Hanover Fire & EMS in Richmond, Virginia. Furthermore, he has actively participated in various national policy oversight groups, such as the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, the National Fire Protection Association, the Congressional Fire Services Institute, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. His contributions have been recognized with the 2015 George D. Post Instructor of the Year Award from the Fire Department Instructors Conference and the International Society of Fire Service Instructors for creating the SLICE-RS concept.
