Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) Promoting Opportunities for Diversity in Education and Research (PODER); NIH-funded research program designed to diversify the research workforce by training traditionally underrepresented students to become biomedical researchers aimed at reducing health disparities in marginalized communities

• Joined the Visual Information Science and Neuroscience (VISN) Laboratory - an interdisciplinary psychology lab exploring the intersections of perception, learning, and technology• Conducted literature review on topics relevant to minoritizied and marginalized populations such as accessibility to educational resources• Formulated overarching research question and objectives examining user experience for CSUN students in the mediums of videoconferencing and immersive virtual reality • Developed experimental design for research study aimed at increasing accessibility to educational resources (e.g., online learning)• Co-developed and presented poster presentations on completed research projects • Completed training on software used in research projects (e.g. eye-tracking, mixed reality media systems)• Prepared materials for experimental protocol for review by the Institutional Review Board• Piloted materials utilized for non-stereoscopic and stereoscopic study conditions across several studies• Collected data exploring the delivery of education materials in different online mediums (i.e., Zoom and Virtual Reality)• Analyzed data examining the relationship of different online educational delivery mediums with academic performance, engagement, and usability symptomology• Trained several research assistants on experimental procedures for collecting data across the two different conditions• Co-writing and preparing manuscripts examining the relationship between online education and various social cognitive elements
