Nadat mijn goede vriend Sjoerd van Stokkum de Gumball 3000 had gereden, kwam ik op het idee om eenzelfde rally op te zetten vanuit Nederland als zakelijk netwerk event voor top directieleden en investeerders. Vanuit ons Informal Investors investeringsfonds North European Capital, schreven we 250 informals aan en Sjoerd schreef de mensen die hij kende vanuit de Quote 500 aan. Binnen no time hadden we 55 teams bij elkaar en reden we de eerste Challenge in de eerste week van september 2002.
