At the intersection of data consumers and data engineering, I built the data foundation for reporting, analysis, experimentation, and machine learning for everything on the Guest side. I enabled the product, engineering and data science teams to build better products and models with the foundation, whose needs + my experience/intuition in turn influenced and improved the data foundation in a flywheel effect. I also led the teams for biannual guest feature releases (www.airbnb.com/release). Expertise: executive communications, data leadership, metric development, data modeling, SQL, Python, and large-scale distributed data processing frameworks like Presto + Spark + Starrocks.

Building and launching products (both guest-facing and internal tooling) to improve guest experiences and developer productivity on Airbnb; design, measure and iterate on marketplace a/b tests. Projects: - Solving growth pain point with much better notifications and email preference management, boosting marketing reach and reducing unsubsriptions (Nov 2021)- Airbnb Categories that reinvented the travel booking experience (Summer 2022)- Near-real-time analytics tooling and data infra for all Airbnb employees (2022)- Better Wishlisting (Summer 2023)- Clear checkout instructions (2023)- Various well-designed and high-quality data models that enabled downstream metrics, reporting and experimentation- and more!

Moved real fast, bridging the gap between product and infra, and shipping high quality experiences to users and delivering happy moments so they can all be "together when apart". ---2020-2021: Messenger - Remote Presence (media Infrastructure, media quality): making video and audio work smoothly under any network conditions for most use cases.2019 - 2020: Messenger: figuring out how to make calling work better for ALL users, growing calling product adoption, and building a better and faster Messenger app to win the teenager market.2018 - 2019: Facebook Ads - Signals & Identity, Ads Delivery, and all the aftermath of Cambridge Analytica. Lots of analytics engineering, lots of SEV reviews, and lots of product-soul searching with data analytics.

Did a bunch A/B tests with Fortune 500 clients and explained what "statistical significance" is perhaps a million times. Flew to a bunch more places semi-frequently; decided that I'd rather do more analytics and product-focused work after about 1.5 years, and really sleep on my own mattress.

Decided to find something more utilitarian Junior summer but did not want to be a software dev, so ended up with APT which has the word "technologies" (plural) in its name but really was a boutique consulting shop. Learned some business jargons, made some great friends, flew to Pittsburgh and had my first Primanti Bros and thought that was alright. Liked the summer enough that I decided to come back full time after college.

Worked on battery testing and crash dump analysis, but mostly had an amazing summer (with midnight sun) in Finland. Met some Finnish friends too and they are rad. Love this country.
