In August 2014, Business Octane was born. What? Business Octane is a business that creates jobs through joining technical experts with investors to create and launch start up companies.Why? Because so often I here passionate people with great ideas struggling to get them to market. Before co-founding NRG Solar, Eddy was co-founder and former director of Adelaide business success story MyBudget, which he helped grow into a national company and household name. Eddy was instrumental in helping grow MyBudget into a national organisation built on its reputation for helping people to achieve their financial goals through budgeting.After starting a career in banking from an age of 16, Eddy was one of the first pioneers of the mortgage broking industry in 1994. In 1997, after seeing many customers experiencing difficulties with their personal finances, Eddy began working on systems and intelligence to make it possible to manage customer’s budgets and make payments on their behalf. In 1999 MyBudget was founded and by 2003 the business had grown to 20 staff and hundreds of clients. Eddy continued programming systems and technology to enable the business to expand. In 2004 Eddy completed documentation and coding of the world’s first algorithm for the automation, prioritising and paying of customer payments. From 2005 to 2013 Eddy headed up both MyBudget’s Service Delivery and Product Development departments. Service Delivery is the department accountable for on-boarding new customer and providing customer service and retention. Eddy grew this department from 3 to 120 staff during this time.Eddy retired from his active duties at MyBudget in December 2013 and is still a shareholder of the company that he co-founded in 1999. MyBudget has helped over 40,000 customers and is now an Australian wide company employing over 250 staff and still uses the same algorithm as its core platform developed by Eddy in 2004.
