The IMDO is the Irish government agency responsible for promoting and developing national and international maritime businesses in Ireland. The IMDO provides government and industry with a range of information and reporting across the sector and works with international businesses to help them set-up or expand in Ireland. The IMDO is also Ireland’s designated Shortsea Shipping Agency and provides independent advice and guidance on EU funding initiatives.

- National Coordinator for Ireland's Marine Technology ProgrammeReflecting the objectives of the national SmartOcean strategy, responsible for developing and maximising the impact of a programme of Research and Development projects that will offer new commercial opportunities, related to marine applications, for technology companies. Specialised in the area of marine environmental sensing with a particular focus on computer vision, remote sensing, multi-modal monitoring networks, data modelling centred around statistical and machine learning algorithms, event detection and prediction, and trust and reliability in networks. This research was carried out in the CLARITY centre and the MESTECH research hub within the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR).Funding: The Beaufort Marine Research Awards, carried out under the Sea Change Strategy and the Strategy for Science Technology and Innovation (2006-2013), with the support of the Marine Institute, funded under the Marine Research Sub- Programme of the National Development plan 2007-2013. The work was also assisted by Science Foundation Ireland under grant 07/CE/I1147.The work being carried out as part of this postdoctoral research contributed to the national SmartOcean Strategy and projects carried out through SmartBay Ireland.
