I am passionate and enthusiastic about the work that I do. With extensive experience working in the social care field in residential and resource centre settings, I strive to provide a level of service that is of the highest professional standard, using academic and practical knowledge in evidence-based planning.As a social care worker, programme supervisor and instructor I have experience in the operational management and development of person-centred services - supporting adults with complex needs, consistent with their Personal Outcome Plans.One of my key attributes is my communication ability, having long ago recognised the importance of active listening when preparing arguments and advocating on behalf of service users in interactions with staff, other service providers and medical and allied professionals.I am proficient in managing staff, using a collaborative approach, and believe in the concept of teamwork. In this context I am comfortable taking leadership roles, exemplified when I took on increased and extended supervisory and management roles, in recent times. I work hard at staying “current” constantly keeping abreast of developments and changes in policy surrounding care and service provision for adults with complex needs. This includes an understanding of the main issues and interim standards addressed in reports such as “New Directions Personal Support Services for Adults with Disabilities” and adoption of the “EASI Process and Tool” approach.Overall, I am committed to the idea of working towards a better life for people using services where they work.
