Family Advocate
CurrentWu Yee's mission is to create opportunities for children to be healthy, for families to thrive, and for communities to be strong. They serve over 4,000 children, families, and child care providers each year.Accomplishments: -Managed a caseload of 35-70 families each program year, double that of the standard FAs.-Coordinated workshops for all 70 families in English, Spanish and Chinese, promoting healthy eating, better parenting, continued learning, financial budgeting, and special education services.-Promoted family wellness and parental involvement for all Wu Yee parents, while acting as liaison between teachers/parents/agencies for health & family services.Responsibilities:-Collaborating with families, staff, and community agencies to identify and meet all the needs of our children and families. -Collaborating with our Center Manager and ERSEA to identify and recruit families into the program, including recruiting children with disabilities and special needs.-Assisting and advising families while transitioning in/out of Wu Yee’s program, and ensuring consistent care throughout the program.-Learning and building on Early Head Start/Head Start Program Performance Standards, DoE requirements, and Wu Yee’s own Child Development policies and procedures.-Developing and maintaining databases for all documents in our dual-funded program.-Educating parents and connecting them to outside resources and agencies -Planning screenings and evaluations for all children in the program, as well as completing all supplementary documentation-Performing follow-up services as required by Wu Yee and educating parents on results/follow-up services.
