I am responsible for embedding and coordinating the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Sexual Assault Pilot (SAP) as part of the Victims Legal Service Extension Pilot (VLSP) Program. The VLSP Program commenced in 2023 and is a project partnered by Victoria Legal Aid, Women’s Legal Services Victoria and Djirra to develop a model to provide free legal advice and support to women who have experienced sexual harm.

The Victims of Crime Community Response program was established in December 2023 to trial an immediate support response to meet the urgent needs of victims, their families, and their communities following a serious, violent crime. The response initiative operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in partnership with VictimConnect - delivering outreach, referrals and brokerage services for basic necessities in the immediate aftermath of a violent crime.At the commencement of this role I will be undertaking discrete research and policy projects to assist in the expansion and continuation of the VOCCR program. This includes a background and options paper, including service and location mapping, to inform recommendations for two new VOCCR sites. I will also create tailored roll-out plans, in collaboration with key stakeholders, for new locations to improve referrals and localised knowledge of the program. Following the completion of these tasks, and the launch of 2 new sites, I will transition into a Victim Response Officer role working on the front line to support victims of violent crime in Queensland.

Systematically identifying gaps in knowledge and delivering education to diverse industries to increase awareness and the practical application of VAQ to improve access for victims. Management of all outward facing information, communications and engagement including website governance, content writing, resource creation, research participation and collaborative project management. Simultaneous management of and participation in multi-stakeholder projects to improve outcomes from victim-survivors.

Managing, designing and implementing innovative crime prevention initiatives in the City of Logan. I currently oversee the Children, Youth and Families portfolio and co-manage the Domestic Violence portfolio for the city. My experience in criminal justice, research, and domestic violence in conjunction with my passion for social justice has lead to a community focused approach that prioritises capacity building, community wellbeing and the amplification of marginalised voices.This role requires multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration across the private, not-for-profit and governmental sectors to produce meaningful results by implementing programs and strategies that address the underlying causes of crime.

Undertaking research and qualitative coding regarding Reproductive Coercion in Australia from a psychological and legal perspective. Working under the direction of Dr Nicola Sheeran at Griffith University.

Working with the University of Melbourne, for Professors Heather Douglas and Robin Fitzgerald, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on research pertaining to Non-Fatal Strangulation within the context of Domestic Violence.
