In my role at the CSRC, I engage with young people in participatory action research that is focused on civic engagement and social justice. Our democracy is under attack, now more than ever, it’s important to involve our students in research that can help ensure their constitutional rights and ability to help define the future of our state. Through data gathering, analysis, and programming, I hope to amplify the voices of Latinx youths and other youths of color throughout the state and to help shape policies that will benefit the health and well-being of communities. In addition, as COVID-19 continues to exacerbate social inequalities within Latinx immigrant communities and other communities of color, he hopes to lead research initiatives that can provide direction on how institutions might better serve the majority of Californians.Additionally, I support with fundraising efforts (~1 million/year)

Drove FLA’s fundraising strategies (foundations, private, individual, corporate) to increase FLA’s annual revenue from $150,000 (2014) to $1.8 million (2021). Developed FLA’s financial sustainability plan by diversifying revenue, creating development positions and establishing FLA’s Operation Reserve of $500,000 (25% of FLA’s annual operational budget)Led FLA’s media strategy that lifted the voices of youth and their families while also highlighting FLA’s instrumental work youth and family led system change work Supervised, coached, and developed FLA’s high-performance leadership team Managed FLA’s grant portfolio which includes local and regional foundations (35) in additional to government grants (3)Successfully established FLA’s peer to peer organizing model that led to advocacy victories that addressed racial and economic disparities throughout the region including Education Equity, Health Equity and Immigrant Rights Launched FLA’s nonpartisan electoral work to engage people of color by establishing a robust outreach and phone banking system that reached over 25,000 voters in the Central Coast Nurtured and strengthen strong relationships with community stakeholders to execute FLA’s mission and vision Developed FLA’s systems and operation structures to address the fast-paced growth and managed FLA’s annual audit and federal tax form 990 Recruited, cultivated, and trained Board Members to reflect the community FLA serves and facilitated fundraising opportunities Worked alongside the FLA Board to establish a strong vision, objectives, and goals for the organization rooted in the experiences of Latinx people in the Central Coast

Co-Founded the 805UndocuFund to provide financial assistance to undocumented immigrants in Ventura and Santa Barbara County due to natural disasters (fires, pandemics, etc.) As the fiscal sponsor for the 805UndocuFund, I led the COVID19 response efforts to secure unrestricted grant funding ($400,000) to hire the first staffing for the Fund which included one Director and 8 support staff Co-led fundraising efforts with the Ventura County Community Foundation to raise $6.1 million dollars to distribute to undocumented families in the region Managed and supervised the 805UndocuFund team distribution of $6.1 million dollars to over 4,000 applicants

Directed and advised a 35- person staff and oversaw a $150,000 budget that included campus-wide programming Developed leadership curriculum for staff (topics included: public speaking, community needs, agenda-setting, facilitating, etc.) Implemented policy set forth by the Director and the Student Advisory Council, including van service for commuter students and graduate school workshops for senior students Expanded CPO “Food Closet’ services and donor from a “Thanksgiving Drive” to a yearly drive by connecting with UCLA Alumni Association(s), churches and Los Angeles Westside Food Bank Fund-raised over $10,000 in funds for the Food Closet
