The scientific project aimed at developing a bioconversion process which consists of valorizing organic wastes using the ability of Hermetia illucens larvae. Insect larvae were further used as an alternative source of proteins for sustainable fish farming (aquaculture). Project looking at the diversification of marine culture in south of France.Selection of two shellfish species (R. decussatus and C. varia): testing various farming methods, following the growth, survival rate… in different environments. Set up natural shellfish larvae catching equipment; species counting and identification. Work in collaboration with IFREMER and marine culture professionals (oysters and mussels farmers).
