Worked on the website when it was a basement operation on four computers, all the way through to the move to King's Place where it usurped the print edition. Large scale government web project involving £30m content migration mission. Did it for the mortgage, and the insight into public sector comms. Very interesting environment all round. Felt oddly out of place most of the time I was anywhere near the office (one day a week - rest WFH), although met a lot of highly competent and good people. www.education.gov.uk.

Acting dep editor on this high-end technology and design magazine (maternity cover contract). IDG, brilliant company and excellent, intelligent people working for it. Based in the heart of London's media-land where I once saw Boris Johnson in the street talking on his phone in a harassed but slightly secretive way outside the office while he was editor of The Spectator. www.digitalartsonline.co.uk

Start-up environment, high-volume consumer magazine publishing. Travel magazines, funded by a multi-millionaire. No one really knew what they were doing except the amazing production manager, who was close to tears a lot of the time. Went bust in a blaze of glory. Fun while it lasted.
