Digital Innovation Alliance - DIA was the evolution of the Smart Card Alliance Latin America - SCALA a not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization facilitating the adoption of innovation technologies to accelerate the evolution of a digital world in multiple sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean.It was a leader in the transformation of interoperability, crafting the concept of accesability of any application or service, through any device at anytime. DIA defined the methodology and the best practices for a secure interoperable identity that could be developed in a format of a card, wearable device, mobile, biometric or other.

Smart Card Alliance Latin America - SCALA was a chapter organization of the Smart Card Alliance, a not-for-profit industry association responsable for the development of industry best practices, tecnical documents, case studies, training programs, certifications, interoperable specifications, market trends and conference events in the Americas, associated with smart card technology and secure integrated cirucuit devices. The chapter was created through a Market Development Cooperation Program - MDCP from the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Government. It is widely considered to have been one of the key market drivers for the implementation of SIM cards, EMV, Transit cards, Accesso Control, Identity cards, Health ID's, Passports and other form factors including some early IoT devices.
