About Edgar González

In my continuous quest over the years to increase my effectiveness for improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean, I have been building and refining my expertise in project & program management, knowledge management, education, instructional design, community medicine & public health applied to development programs. As program manager of IDBx, the Inter-American Development Bank learning initiative in edX, I was very fortunate to lead during 8 years a very talented and passionate group of professionals responsible for transforming the knowledge generated in Bank-financed development projects into MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) and SPOCs (Small Private Online Courses). IDBx MOOCs and SPOCs bring together the knowledge and experience of hundreds of Bank colleagues and practitioners in the field and showcase IDB publications, research findings, lessons learned, case studies and data sets on social and economic development. We developed and delivered 132 courses (including new and reruns) in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French, which attracted 1.12 million enrollments, 85% of them from countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Active participants reported a high level of satisfaction (4.56 out of 5.0) with the quality of those courses, and reported positive impacts in their lives after six months of course completion: improved knowledge and skills for their current job (92.7%), improved professional performance (91.3%), and increased leadership and influence in their workplace (78.7%).Currently, I am leading Esapiens Solutions (ESS), promoting institutional capacity development and better results in social and environmental projects and programs. I am also leading Knowledge Impact (KI), monitoring and evaluating outcomes and impacts of knowledge products.
