Managing a team of 8 materials engineers (PhD/MSc holders), focused on two job function areas: Product Development and Process Engineering.Product Development:Play a lead role in the feasibility and development of new products for different industrial applications by using open die forging, ring rolling and heat treatment technologies.Responsible for the development of new steel alloys in conjunction with steel-making metallurgists in order to bring them from the lab to commercial scale.Liaise and attend meetings with international customers and suppliers on matters related to product and process development and product quality.Analysis and interpretation of hot-forming and heat treatment process simulations (FORGE & FLUENT) to determine the influence of material and processing conditions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of different alloy systems.Process Engineering:Definition of relevant heat treatment and forging process parameters mainly for alloy steels but not limited to nickel base and titanium alloys.Work with super alloys and aluminum development metallurgists on topics related to product quality, structural integrity and process optimization.Provide technical back up to sales staff and potential customers with inquiries associated to product development or specifications reviews.Research:Lead research and developments programmes in conjunction with national and international universities on new materials and/or new products and processes.Collaboration with national/international universities, laboratories and R&D centers to jointly develop and evaluate new materials and processes.
