Mitera’s mission is to provide practical solutions for gardeners and farmers while promoting sustainable practices, soil regeneration, and carbon capture.Currently, I’m focused on refining our products, reaching our first customers, and laying the groundwork for growth. With sustainability and the circular bioeconomy at the core, Mitera aims to offer effective tools for healthier soils while contributing to carbon-negative solutions. I am actively contributing to the development of an American National Standard for Biochar through my role in the X668 Biochar Development Committee. Leveraging my expertise in biochar analysis and production, I aim to promote the adoption of biochar as a sustainable solution while facilitating its certification under guidelines tailored to the needs of North America. The focus of this Committee includes establishing guidelines to define what biochar is, determining essential and supplemental properties for diverse applications, and supporting the creation of accessible methodologies that allow more laboratories to analyze biochar consistently and accurately. This work not only supports the growth of biochar markets but also drives impactful change in the bioeconomy by ensuring that biochar is produced, analyzed, and applied according to scientifically robust and regionally relevant standards.
