Dr Chedrawy specializes in conceiving and implementing strategic change in hospitals, academia and health systems. An accomplished cardiac surgeon, after completing advanced Cardiothoracic Transplantation fellowship at Stanford University, Chedrawy began clinical practice at Northshore University Health System in Evanston, IL, as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University. In 2007, he was recruited to the University of Illinois (UIC) to lead the advanced aortic surgery program. During his time at UIC, Chedrawy was promoted to Associate Professor of Surgery (with tenure) and served as Medical Director for Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Vice-Chairman of Department of Surgery (Quality and Education), at Tenet Healthcare Weiss Hospital. Chedrawy received the Alley-Sheridan award, from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), to complete the Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University, Boston MA. In 2017, Chedrawy completed Certified Physician Executive (CPE) certification before returning to Canada as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Health Administration, at Dalhousie University, Halifax. He served as Head of Division of Cardiac Surgery, at Nova Scotia Health Authority from 2018 until 2022. Chedrawy has served on the STS Workforce for Patient Safety, the Board of Directors for the Canadian Society of Cardiac Surgeons and on Board of Directors of American Association for Physician Leadership. In 2012, Chedrawy founded Chedrawy Healthcare Consulting (CHC), in Chicago. CHC focuses on building physician-hospital alignment through collaborative strategic planning and strategic execution. Chedrawy’s signature coaching program, Leadership By Design©, has helped healthcare executives worldwide with clients in USA, Canada, UK, Saudia Arabia and UAE. In 2023, Chedrawy co-launched TCHealth+, with Tatham Corporation, professional training company with a focus on building high-functioning teams in healthcare settings using combination of simulation, experiential learning and ongoing professional coaching.
