Ultimately, a childhood dream and my passion for human relationships are what have driven me to this milestone in my career. Understandably, what the child in me didn't realize is - more important than any career destination - is the journey.After high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and set out to travel the world. I quickly became a disciplined, effective, and strategic leader. In 2001, at the age of 22 years old, I was tasked with operating the Kandahar Enemy Combatant Compound in Afghanistan. And as a result of my steadfast moral character; my ability to lead through respect (not fear); my unwavering respect for human dignity, compassion, and ethics; and my ability to remain stoic, think strategically, and effectively lead my Marines in the midst of several attacks, with not one loss of life in the compound - I was awarded Commendation Medals from the Army, the Navy, and the United States Marine Corps. My 5+ years of military service engrained high-levels of leadership, courage, integrity, and adaptability. All which continue to serve as a compass on my journey today.In 2008, prior to the economy spiraling, I harnessed these learned traits and values setting out to consult in the hospitality, hotel, and music industry. Again, encountering adversity, I reflected and engaged my learned adaptability. I frequently found myself working my way around the word “No.” And quickly realized that building rapport and relationships through effective listening was the key to almost every closed door. This allowed me to further hone my approach in educating and consulting by merely communicating more effectively; more importantly, listening. This mindset was instrumental in mediating towards “Win-Win” outcomes, and further highlighted my ability to seize fleeting opportunities. My service in the military and the practical approaches I developed in the wake of the 2008 recession are pillars of my success in more ways than a young child could have ever imagined. Today, everything I engage in is driven by my keen interest in human relationships and I seek to empower people working towards a common goal. I make sure to dedicate some part of my day to pro bono and community service using the global understanding, communication skills, and legal expertise I have developed along this amazing journey!
