Postdoctoral Research Scientist & Deputy Group Leader
CurrentResponsibilities:Perform quantitative modeling and analysis that inform decision-making aimed at achieving multiple goals in a world composed of many actors with differing goals and beliefs, each operating under conditions of deep uncertainty. Mentored by Ken Caldeira, Senior Scientist (emeritus) at Carnegie Institution for Science (Stanford University) and Gates Ventures.Coordinate strategic hiring, supervise group logistics, and procure for medium—and long-term sustainability by overseeing the annual budget.Achievements:a. Disseminated research findings (13 published papers, 5 under review, and 9 under preparation) in high-quality scientific journals.b. Published op-eds and scientific letters in high-impact media like Science, Nature Cities, and Inside Higher Ed, promoting work environments that facilitate scientific production.c. Appointed as one of the seven Executive Editorial Board members of the Environmental Research: Energy journal. d. Co-designed, planned, and executed the first three research and development planning sessions (including Caltech and UCI collaborators). Sessions were designed around three components: a) strategic research, b) team building, and c) manuscript writing. e. Recognized as an exemplary researcher tasked with representing early-career researchers in the 2022 Carnegie Science Board meeting.f. Identified as an emerging higher-education leader and rising scientist invited by:- The Earthshot Prize (led by Prince William of Gales) to be part of the Expert Advisory Panel tasked with reviewing nominations for their impact potential, uniqueness, and innovation.- The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the Association of American Universities to discuss the state and future of graduate mentorship in higher education.- The Sloan Foundation and Resources for the Future to inform decision-making on the intersection of energy and climate policy.
