Helped implement an in-house Defined Contribution benefits accounting system. This high-volume system was written from the ground up using SQL Server at the back end, DCOM objects written in C++ with Active Template Library in the middle tier, and Visual FoxPro and Web (via cgi) front ends. In addition to programming in all tiers, helped with application and database design and assisted employees with Visual FoxPro and SQL Server questions.Worked two or three days on site every two weeks in NYL's suburban Boston office and the remaining days from my home in Southwest Michigan.

Part of a team that maintained the company's flagship dBEV product, a software package that manages accounting, inventory, sales, routes, and supplier reporting for beverage wholesalers. Technical lead in upgrading dBEV to Clipper 5.x, adding functionality and stability to a then decade-old system while reducing the code base from 500,000 lines to approximately 300,000.
