I have experience as an Electrical Engineer, and Software developer. My software experience spans most of my career, and covers multiple languages and project types. As an electrical engineer, I designed hardware for testing semiconductor devices. I did this for the Disk Drive peripheral industry, DRAM and Flash memory, Image sensors, and Programmable SOC devices. Many of these platforms used FPGA devices (I always preferred Altera) where my preferred language was System Verilog. Even as an EE, I spent quite a lot of time doing software development. I did a lot of PERL coding for data manipulation, but eventually switched over to Python, lead by some well respected co-workers. I also spent a number of years building C++ tools and interfaces. Oh, and I've done a fair bit of embedded as well, using C or C++. I do prefer C++ "light versions" for embedded workIn 2011 I joined a small business with some former co-workers and entered the crazy world of "web development", where I currently do most of my work. I stuck with Python as my prefer development language for web work (eschewing PHP and C#), which lead me Django as my preferred backend framework. As a web developer you cannot ignore Javascript of course, and I have spent the past 7 or more years building my skills there. These days I prefer ReactJS for most development, and have a modern React+Redux+Webpack+Babel development flow that I am constantly improving. For at least the past 15 years I've managed teams of various sizes, both in the EE world, and in the software/web development arena. I have worked with and managed software teams in Vietnam and the Philippines, with most of my offshore experience in the Philippines. Most recently I have worked on several startups of my own, and with partners. Some have failed to materialize into real tools, but I continue working with my wife on our gardening website, and I am seeking to take a tennis scheduling hobby project of mine to a real product.

Gardentronic Owner And CtoGardentronic, Llc Jul 2018 - PresentI am an electrical engineer and software engineer, and my wife is a master gardener. It somehow made sense to build a website dedicated to gardening. We played with the idea for 6 or 7 years and finally decided to make a go at it. Here's to throwing caution to the wind and building a "Lifestyle" business.https://gardentronic.com is a gardening website that brings inspiration and ideas to gardeners. We are focusing on the TreasureValley Idaho area for now but would love to expand to more areas in the future. We officially launched in March 2019 with an "MVP", so there is plenty of work left to do and more features on the way. Please take a look, and we would love to hear your thoughts. Honest, actionable feedback is hard to come by.I spend my time building the website, working with the development team, and trying to find the right mix of features and content that will make our site a must-link for our audience and a place to come back to regularly and often. My wife and I are busy lining up gardens in the area to highlight in our "Featured Garden" segments. We hope to release a new view about once a week, so there is plenty of work to do. We continue to improve our video skills, and equipment. I have a couple of nice drones - I'm most happy with the Inspire 2 - so we do our best to make the segments interesting. We have some older video shots that are less than spectacular, but that is part of the learning process as well!Do you have a garden you are proud of? Know of a friend, neighbor or co-worker that does? We'd love to talk! We are not looking for million-dollar gardens (per se), just something inspirational, interesting, or just plain unique! Unique works quite well actually.

Chief Technical OfficerSharpertool, Llc Jan 2017 - PresentI am an electrical engineer and software developer. My languages of choice are Python and Javascript, and I build websites in Django with the Wagtail CMS. I've built some large scale applications in Javascript, and ReactJS is my framework of choice. I am comfortable and confident in most aspects of building a web-based platform, such as frontend, backend, database/storage and development operations (setting up and managing the servers).I am always happy to talk about an ongoing or future project, and if there is a good fit, I'm ready to jump in and get busy.

Graduate Student - Msee Graduate StudiesBoise State University Jul 2009 - Dec 2011Boise, Id, UsCompleted an MSEE. My thesis and project was a glove that incorporated a 6 axis sensor on each fingertip, as well as the hand. The sensors were read 100times/second using an onboard Atmel processor. The processor was wired to the computer using USB - so not a wireless solution for this project. The return results were captured using a Python process, then processed (on the fly) using a Matlab process that I wrote. The results from the Matlab process were then passed to another Python process to visualize the hand movement using the Python Panda3D library. All of these processes ran real-time. The end results were "acceptable", and of course the bulk of the work was making it all function, but the algorithms were never as advanced as I'd hoped for. With more time I could have made the captures better, and the visualization better as well. -
System Engineer, Sr. StaffCypress Semiconductor Nov 2007 - Jun 2009San Jose, Ca, UsWorked as the hardware designer of a sophisticated test platform that included a Power PC processor, two large FPGA's, a range of analog test and measurement capabilities and many digital IO test lines. This system was put into production in early 2009 after just over a year of continual development. Developing this system was a great engineering challenge. There were hitches along the road but the eventual success was very satisfying. -
Design EngineerMicron Technology Feb 1997 - Nov 2007Boise, Idaho, UsI started at Micron in 1997 as a Software Engineer writing C++ and Database applications for management of production data. Two years later I moved into the Micromate group as a SW engineer working on a DRAM and Flash tester. After a few years on the SW team I began transitioning to the hardware group. I designed a SDRAM interface module that used an FPGA and a Cypress FX2 processor to compare and capture DRAM memory access cycles. During this project Micron acquired Photobit, and I was offered an opportunity to develop hardware for the image testing. I spent the remaining 5 years at Micron working in the imaging group developing test hardware and interface boards for a large number of imaging devices. The tester was called the "MigMate". The MigMate team included hardware software and technician resources. This team did an outstanding job of developing a test system and it was one of the best teams I have had the opportunity to work with in a long time. The team was essentially disbanded when Micron dictated that the imaging group would move to San Jose, Ca. Several of the engineers, including myself, left Micron for other companies. Some moved to other positions within Micron. Two of the original engineers made the transition. -
