Responsibilities:- Managing a team of 10 operators, assigning tasks and overseeing their completion using the correct procedure.- Coordinating with maintenance department to quickly resolve any technical problem.- Managing raw materials and making sure of their availability for the next shift.- Cooperating with quality control department to achieve the desired characteristics in the product (number of crystals, colour, etc).- Preparing crystallizers according with production goals, making sure there was enough product ready to be tinned for the next shift.Skills gained/improved:Planning and Organizing:- During my time in INALCON I was tasked with managing raw materials required to produce sweetened condensed milk. I had to plan effectively in order to leave enough raw materials for the next shift, and pre-mix the necessary amount of crystallizers to help fulfill production requirements.Teamwork:- As a line supervisor in INALCON C.A. I was responsible of a team of 10 operators, coordinating each task as part of a unified team was essential in order to meet the demands. This was done by having a meeting at the beginning of each shift and organizing the positions of each operator according to their strengths and experiences, while also listening to their individual inputs on how to best achieve the shift's objectives.Communication:- At INALCON C.A. Due to the high demand nature of the sweetened condensed milk business in Venezuela, it was extremely important to have the product ready on time. As such, constant communication was maintained with the operators as well as quality control, maintenance, and logistic teams allowing for an increased amount of on time deliveries.

Responsibilities:- In charge of creating operation manuals for existing equipment.- Responsible for completing productivity reports and stop reports.- Tasked with a project to increase production capacity of a Plate Heat Exchanger and its associated economic analysis.- Elaborating experiments to determine the real amount of liquid nitrogen used per can, calculating volumes of nitrogen containers, performing other tasks as needed.Skills gained/Improved:Analysis and problem solving:- During my internship in NATULAC I was assigned a project to increase the fruit nectar production of the plant. The bottleneck process was identified to be the pasteurization step, requiring an increase in the capacity of the Plate Heat Exchanger from 12 m3/h to 18 m3/h or purchase a new equipment. Upon applying engineering principles based on data from in situ measurement it was determined a modification in the number of plates would be more 49% less expensive. Also a change in the heating water temperature reduced the consumption of water by 30% and water heating costs by 22%.- One of my team's responsibilities in NATULAC was writing productivity results in excel. Unfortunately this process was very time consuming as the data needed to be manually filled in. Upon reviewing this spreadsheet, I decided to employ a nested "IF" function to track the data and automatically write it in the correct cell. This resulted in a decrease in the number of manual inputs from 71 to 3 greatly reducing the time spent completing these reports.Communication:- As part of my internship in NATULAC after completing my project with the plant's Plate Heat Exchanger, I had to present my results to senior management. I decided to make a short and concise presentation of the project results and the actual economic cost and benefit, this resulted in my proposal being implemented which was 49% less expensive than the alternative (buying a new plate heat exchanger).
