About Edward D Herderick
Dr. Edward D. Herderick is the Vice President for Science and Technology Development at NSL Analytical. His responsibilities include architecting qualification, testing, and analytical measurement solutions with customers in high consequence industries from additive manufacturing to hypersonics to batteries and beyond. Prior to joining NSL, he was the Director of Additive Manufacturing at The Ohio State University Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME). He was responsible for all additive activities supporting CDME's mission to provide industrial education to students, user facilities for faculty and partners, and bringing manufacturing innovation to Ohio industry.Prior to joining OSU he was the Global Sales Leader for Portable NDT products at GE Inspection Technologies. As part of that role he led an initiative on inspection and NDT of additively manufactured metal parts. Prior to his global commercial role, Ed was the Additive Technologies Leader for GE Corporate Supply Chain and Operations. His responsibility was to support insertion of additive manufacturing into the supply chain.Prior to joining GE, Ed was Director of R&D at rapid prototype + manufacturing. Prior to joining rp+m, Ed was the Director of the Additive Manufacturing Consortium and a Materials Engineer at EWI in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining EWI, Ed served as the Materials Societies Congressional Fellow, cosponsored by TMS, ACerS, and MRS. As such, he worked on Capitol Hill in the office of US Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio as a special legislative assistant supporting Senator Brown’s work on manufacturing, technology and energy issues. Ed received his PhD from The Ohio State University in Materials Science and Engineering. Previous work experience includes an internship in India and a broad leadership background. He is an active member of the materials community including serving on the board of directors for TMS and on several committees for ACerS.Ed's profile picture shows him in at one of the world's great collections of medieval metallurgy in the Cleveland Museum of Art Armory.
