In 2008 I inherited a failing infrastructure which was reliant upon out of date and unsupported hardware and software. Working from the ground up, I managed a refresh of all the network infrastructure components on time, within budget and with no downtime. I am used to managing projects from concept to implementation /support. Specifically:• I provided more secure internet connectivity to site by replacing a failing checkpoint firewall with a new checkpoint firewall appliance. This was subsequently replaced with two Fortigate firewalls in a HA cluster.• I provided a more reliable network by replacing legacy nBase switches with New Cisco catalyst switches. These were subsequently replaced with PoE capable Cisco Catalyst switches, with layer 3 functions deployed across two server rooms using HSRP.• Using the new PoE switches, I deployed a 2 node IP Cortex PABX in a HA cluster, replacing a failing and inflexible 15 year old Siemens PABX and reducing support cost.• I replaced failing File, Print, Exchange and SQL servers with a new VMWare VSphere 4 cluster with no downtime.• I replaced failing Windows NT PCs with Windows XP machines. These were subsequently replaced with a mixture of Windows 7 machines and thin clients.• I upgraded all of our production servers to Server 2008 R2, greatly improving performance and reliability, with no downtime to the end users.• I introduced and championed Virtualisation and RDS clustering at S & A Foods Ltd, with a perfect operational record since 2009. I managed the IT Department within a very tight budget meeting all departmental SLAs and KPIs for over 6 and a half years.• I introduced managed print services to the business, saving on printer downtime and cost.• I reviewed and upgraded the DR plan, saving £8000 per annum on the existing contract whilst increasing our support and performing annual DR tests.

In charge of IT for the Nottingham site.• I transformed a failing support team into a high performance IT support function that met all SLAs for 3 years.• I specified and delivered the IT requirements of 3 product launches with budgets in excess of £40million on time and under budget. • At the same time I managed the decommissioning of the Bicester site and the installation of Nagios network monitoring in the UK and Belgium. • I managed the full rebuild of the Server Room, including air conditioning, UPS, fire suppression all on time and under budget, passing a full Corporate IT Services Audit with 3 months’ notice.• I managed the provisioning of AS/400 resources for a Brazil site.• I maintained Sarbanes Oxley compliance for the site, with no deficiencies over 3 years.

• Managed a successful Voice over IP implementation at a satellite location from concept to implementation.• Managed the installation of a LES circuit between the main business site and a satellite location. This project delivered measurable network performance increase over the existing Laser link.• Played an integral part in the migration of the entire site to an NT4 Server and Workgroup environment In October 1999 and to a Windows 2003 Server/ XP Professional environment in 2004.• As part of a Team of four managed and supported over 300 Networked PCs running Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP; 14 communications Cabinets, 13 Servers (2000 and 2003 in an Active Directory) and 2 AS/400s operating as a high availability cluster. This involved reactive troubleshooting as well as planned maintenance and upgrade tasks.• Was responsible for all site telecommunications for three years, and created robust procedures.• Maintained and tested the disaster recovery readiness.• Maintained up to date records of the network infrastructure and maintained version control.
