About Elizabeth Diago Navarro

I am an investigator interested in public health, infectious diseases prevention and control and epidemiology. During my PhD I acquired skills in Molecular Microbiology, Biochemisty and Molecular Biology. I have experience in the development of monoclonal antibodies-based therapies to treat antibiotic-resistant or hypervirulent bacteria based on hybridoma technology. I am the Study Coordinator at Stony Brook University Hospital of the NIH-funded multicenter study entitled Consortium on Resistance Against Carbapenems in Klebsiella pneumoniae and Other Enterobacteriaceae (CRACKLE): a Prospective, Observational Cohort Study led by Duke University. I hold a Master in Public Health in University at Albany, SUNY and I have participated in several activities to control infections in Stony Brook University Hospital.

Classify them using MLST and capsular genotyping. • Developing new diagnostics tools for hypervirulent strains producing infections. • Serve on the SBU Hand Washing Task Force aiming to reduce hospital nosocomial infections. Conducted surveys to understand healthcare workers attitudes, beliefs and self-perception of hand washing. Contributed to a 2-minute video aired in the hospital to promote hand washing and managed 2 pilot interventions to increase hospital hand washing compliance to 90%.• Prepared, coordinated and organized NIH grants (R21 and R01) submission documents for Principal Investigator.
