I have worked in retail and hospital pharmacy for over 25 years in different environments using different processes. Recently I managed an upstart retail community pharmacy with durable medical equipment. In addition, for 13 years, I worked as a pharmacy application specialist in research and development for a healthcare software company, designing, testing, training and supporting users on a pharmacy system that included inpatient functions, satellite, ambulatory, point-of-care, clinical and billing, and interfaces to other third party vendors.Although I continued to work on a part-time basis while my children were growing up, I kept up with pharmacy trends and changing healthcare. I enjoy managing pharmacies, but I am focused on connecting the healthcare pieces by working in healthcare infomatics, whether utilizing software to manage patient care or designing better software, because I see first hand the waste and mistakes that are made without an electronic medical record that flows from Dr to hospital to pharmacy to home health. I want to help put the puzzle together.Until we get all the pieces put together, I enjoy working as a liaison between the prescriber(s), the insurance companies,the provider(s), and the patient by providing medication therapy management, offering better and lower cost solutions, alternatives to traditional manufactured medications when warranted, and lifestyle changes to promote wellness. My goal is to facilitate communication between all parties to eliminate waste and increase the effectiveness of total patient therapy.
