Biomedical Engineer by day and Rock Climber by night. Loves to problem solve and is easily adaptable to any situation being thrown into. Enjoys coaching on the side and is willing to guide anyone when needed. Able to convey my ideas clearly and effectively and is open to working with anyone. I will always choose to go above and beyond in everything do be it personal or professional endeavors.I am looking forward to embarking on a career as a biomedical engineer in hopes of applying what I have learnt about a variety of medical equipment and instruments. Many ground-breaking innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing organs and even gene editing are constantly emerging. I personally believe that these developments will play a significant part in improving healthcare globally. More specifically to ensure that less people pass on at an early age, be it due to mental or physical health reasons. This is closely related to the UNSDG Goal 3.4: By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being. My goal is to be able to use my knowledge to ensure that the patients in healthcare facilities are treated with the best equipment available. After all, doing no harm comes first, patient safety is most important. In my time in Singapore Polytechnic, I have done numerous types of projects from an automatic fish feeder to a water saving shower alarm. Each and every one of these projects have taught be something new about a different UNSDG. The project which was most memorable to me was using an accelerometer to build handheld device for the elderly. It sends a signal to a guardian when a button is pressed or when the device has detected sudden movement like a fall. It also comes with a built-in GPS. This project closely links closely to UNSDG 3.4 as well as this device reduces the risk of injury in elderly in their day to day lives. All these projects I have done has helped me to work efficiently groups with different ideas and has taught me many new skills such as coding and soldering. I hope to work with many new Biomedical Engineers in the future and further deepen my knowledge.
